How my training works

I offer 121 support that’s completely tailored to your dog, your lifestyle and your goals. We look at everything from nutrition to enrichment, sleep routine to exercise to get the background on your dogs' life as a whole.   With WhatsApp support between sessions, I’m here when you need me, not just once a week.

How I work with you

I work best with caregivers who want more than quick fixes - people who want to build a relationship with their dog and are committed to spending the time and effort to help their dogs thrive. Whether you’re welcoming your first puppy,  navigating adolescence or need some help with your adult dog,  I’ll support you through every stage.

“Heather understands the spaniel mindset - and that made all the difference”
Lesley and Bailey

Before I started working with Heather, life with Bailey – my energetic cocker spaniel – felt a bit chaotic. I’d tried some group training classes, but they just didn’t suit us. I quickly realised I needed something more personal – and someone I could genuinely connect with. That’s when I found Heather online. From our very first conversation on the phone, it just clicked. She got it. She got me. And, more importantly, she understood Bailey. Bailey is full of beans, easily distracted, and not exactly always focused on me. Walks could be stressful. He’d pull on the lead, ignore commands, and run off to investigate whatever took his fancy. Indoors, he was mostly okay, but getting his attention outside? Nearly impossible. There were moments when I honestly thought, “Have I made a mistake getting a cocker spaniel?” I’ve had dogs before, but never a spaniel - and wow, what a difference. I quickly learned that this breed needs constant stimulation and a training approach that’s equal parts clever and creative. Heather, thankfully, has two cockers herself and totally understands the spaniel mindset.. What makes Heather’s 121 sessions so special is how completely tailored they are, to both me and Bailey. She’s come to my home, she’s taken us out on walks, and every session is based on what we need that week. She’ll arrive with ideas, but we always have a chat about how things have been going, what’s worked (or not!), and go from there. Between sessions, she stays in touch through WhatsApp. That ongoing support is honestly invaluable, it’s not just about the hour-long session, it’s about feeling supported throughout the whole journey. These days, I feel so much more in control and confident. We still have things we’re working on (loose lead walking and recall are ongoing projects), but I now know how to tackle them. Heather’s shown me how to build a better relationship with Bailey, one based on trust, fun and consistency. Training with Heather hasn’t just helped Bailey, it’s helped me. I’ve learned how to be a better dog owner, how to really understand my dog’s needs, and how to enjoy the journey. It’s not always perfect – and that’s okay. But now, I don’t feel lost or frustrated. I feel supported, empowered, and genuinely proud of how far we’ve come. If you're looking for someone who truly understands dogs (and people), who brings humour, patience and kindness to every session, I can't recommend Heather enough. She’s not just a dog trainer; she’s been a game changer for both me and Bailey.
